We all know that the dimension of a straight line is 1, a pentagon is 2, and a cube is 3. Do you know objects can have fractional dimensions!!?
You might have seen fractals in pretty pictures and screensavers. These self-similar structures have fractional dimensions, appropriately called “Fractal Dimensions.”
I was obsessed with Fractals during my college days, so much so that I collected Ferns while on a trip to Kodaikanal and used them in my project report.
Here is a good article to understand fractal dimensions: http://www.cs.cornell.edu/courses/cs212/1998sp/handouts/Fractals/similar.html
